Azores Chapter I

I spent two weeks travelling around the Azores. As the Azores consist of nine islands, I was only able to visit four of them in that short time. I visited Teicera, Faial, Pico and São Miguel. This involved 6 flights (via Lisbon) and a ferry crossing, 4 hire cars and 4 places to stay. Unfortunately, I also fell ill during the trip and had to enjoy everything whilst suffering from a bad cough and a fever for 2 days. This time, I decided to stick to just one camera and a fixed focal length lens, as I usually end up travelling with far too much photographic kit. My choice this time was the LEICA M10-P and the Summilux 35 FLE. As a very colourful mix of different views from my trip emerged, I’ve decided to organise them into different categories.
Here are a few examples from the landscapes and nature section. As the Azores are of volcanic origin, the vegetation is extremely varied, with barren landscapes alternating with green forests. The whole scene is dominated by the sea and Portugal’s highest mountain, Pico, at 2,351 metres.
